Leona Hiebert, SEP

My search to heal developmental trauma, PTSD, and traumatic grief led me to explore a variety of therapies - some more helpful than others. Though some therapies provided useful coping skills, my trauma symptoms remained. I am grateful to have discovered Somatic Experiencing, as it has changed my life. It has helped me to resolve trauma from the past, rather than providing yet another management strategy. Now, I want to help others resolve their trauma symptoms, so they too can find peace, live freely, and move forward with their lives.

My training includes the following:

  • Somatic Experiencing Practitioner ®(SEP) (Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute, Boulder, Colorado USA)

  • Somatic Resilience and Regulation (Austin Attachment and Counseling Center, Austin Texas USA)

  • Wholistic Therapist (Wild Rose College of Natural Healing, Calgary, Alberta Canada)

  • Yoga instructor for adults (Integrative Yoga Therapy, Santa Barbara, California USA) and for children and teens (YogaEd ® Los Angeles, California)

I have also co-facilitated grief groups at Bob Glasgow Grief Support Centre in Calgary.

I am a member of United States Association of Body Psychotherapy (USABP) #66026723.

Testimonials

“I’ve never understood why I felt so out of control. I would encounter different life situations that seemed so straight-forward, yet I would react out of anxiety or fail to take action at all. I would feel my boundaries being crossed, but was unable to stop this invasion. I would override what I knew was the right thing to say or do, with messages to myself like “just power through” or “It’s okay,” even though it wasn’t okay. Through the sessions with Leona, I have gained incredible insight and understanding. I have let go of a significant amount of fear and I feel that my body and mind have learned how to identify boundaries and needs, and I have improved at communicating these needs with confidence.”

“I have come to the conclusion that human beings are born with an innate capacity to triumph over trauma. I believe not only that trauma is curable, but that the healing process can be a catalyst for profound awakening - a portal opening to emotional and genuine spiritual transformation.”
